Now that The Peach has dropped, the mayoral guard has changed, and a fresh calendar is upon us, it’s time to glance ahead at what’s forecasted to be an interesting year around here. One thing’s for sure: From cultural and economic standpoints, Atlanta will be anything but stagnant in the New Year. Fans of quiet, idle, predictable cities had better hightail to the interstate.

Buckhead’s quest to create a sorely needed, transit-connected, world-class public space from thin air took a significant step forward this morning. The Buckhead Community Improvement District, alongside Rogers Partners Architects, unveiled an updated timeline, several new project renderings, and a 360-degree immersive video image of a public park concept that would crown a half-mile of Ga. Highway 400 in central Buckhead, creating a gathering place the park-starved submarket lacks.
